I have a good reason for my long silence. It is not COVID, not vaccines, but rather I had the feeling that I had to write a book. My dream has been realized. After finishing the manuscript one more year was needed for editing, and the „New concept of polymyalgia rheumatica” was published on November 8th, the Day of Hungarian Science. The book was published by the leading Hungarian scientific publisher Medicina, with the recommendation of my „boss”, Professor Gyula Poór, Széchenyi award-winning academic, the head of the National Institute of Rheumatology and Physiotherapy.
What gave me the inspiration to write my book?

I have been practicing as a rheumatologist for almost 30 years. From the very beginning of my career I have been dealing with inflammatory rheumatic diseases of elder adults, and I also wrote my thesis on this topic.
I have been deeply interested in polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), the heterogenous manifestation of which and its overlapping with other inflammatory diseases - locomotor or not - have always filled me with amazement. I have gained a huge amount of experience during clinical and laboratory studies carried out on my PMR patients, as well as during my participation in international multicentric studies, thus I have a wealth of experience in the pathogenesis, the course and the therapy of the disease.
I have also participated in the development of the new diagnostic and therapeautic protocols as a member of the PMR work group of the collaborating American and European International Leagues for Rheumatology.

20-30 years ago polymyalgia was identified as a disease involving pain and stiffness of the shoulder/pelvic girdle of the elder adults extreme sedimentation rate but responding well to low dose steroids, generally with full recovery. There has been explosive improvement in the fields of immunology, imaging and therapeautic modalities in the past 20-30 years, as well as the unifying and standardizing efforts of the international scientific communities. My book, which is the first PMR monography even on an international level, intends to be a summary of this new knowledge, the new concepts of polymyalgia rheumatica.
The work is whole-heartedly recommended to all my rheumatologist and other speciality physician colleagues, and anyone interested in this fascinating topic.
Hopefully, it will be published in English in the near future.
