It was an honour to receive an invitation from Dr Ilona Horváth, Medical Director of BEMER Hungary, to give a presentation entitled “An Ageing Society, Movement, and BEMER” at the grand celebration and conference marking the 25th anniversary of the Hungarian Co.
We celebrated the 25th anniversary of the founding of BEMER Hungary, which later became the BEMER Eastern European Centre. The event paid tribute—with well-deserved applause and recognition—to the founders, János Beck and Dr Ilona Horváth, and to the family members who later joined the initiative, Zoltán and Erika Beck. At the request of the Liechtenstein-based company’s leadership (founder Peter Gleim and current owner Stephanie Gleim), they brought the BEMER concept and practice to Hungary and helped it flourish. Today, BEMER Hungary has 6,000 partners and even more users.

The anniversary celebration, held at the Novotel Hotel and Conference Centre, drew 1,400 attendees. It truly felt like a large family gathering, celebrating not only BEMER and its Hungarian and international leadership, but also, in a way, us and our shared success. This joyful, upbeat spirit permeated the entire event—from the opening ceremony to the gala evening and the day-long conference.

The scientific programme explored the role of BEMER, as a unique vascular therapy, in health maintenance and support. The current issues were: Dr István Rozsos presented his findings on vascular patients, with particular emphasis on the importance of Bemer sleeping program. Neurologist Dr Zita Szemerszki shared her experience with the use of the B. Pad on the skull in patients living with brain aneurysms.
In the afternoon, we heard some fascinating case studies from a Czech sports medicine colleague and from Dr Ildikó Frányó, a family physician, followed by a presentation on the “Horse Set.” Later, our fellow BEMER partners with “OD+ and OD” certification shared insights into the art of team building.

One of BEMER’s new areas of interest and application is longevity—that is, quality of life, healthy ageing, and pre-ageing. It was my privilege to deliver an overview of these new concepts, with a particular focus on chronic rheumatological conditions associated with longevity, geriatric syndromes, and the concept of pre-ageing. I presented international research on my specialist condition, polymyalgia rheumatica, and its associations with geriatric syndromes. I also discussed difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis, where in addition to direct medical and rheumatological challenges, psychosocial factors can also complicate treatment. With advancing age, frailty syndrome also begins to emerge, which, beyond a certain point, can become irreversible. In this context, BEMER therapy plays a particularly valuable role in pre-ageing, as it improves tissue circulation and thereby supports the function of all organs and our overall physical condition— as a complementary treatment, without side effects. In our ageing society, this topic is so timely that it also attracted the interest of Dr. Ricarda Jansen, Medical Director of BEMER Int. AG.

To commemorate this quarter-century milestone of BEMER Hungary, the leadership of BEMER International arranged for a fresh-water well to be drilled in Uganda, as a gift to the Hungarian leadership. The plaque at the well bears the inscription: “Beck Family – BEMER Hungary.” This well—and the access it provides to clean water—stands as a noble example of human solidarity and the will to help others, transcending borders. In response, the Hungarian leadership offered a true Hungaricum in return: Herend porcelain vases presented to the Liechtenstein leadership, as well as to selected BEMER partners and speakers—including myself. Thank you, BEMER Hungary!
